Becoming a creative writer was (for me anyway) a metamorphosis.
I came to it by accident and circumstance, rather than a conscious choice.
My fledgling attempts were consigned to the computer recycle bin and I would sit staring at the computer screen hoping inspiration would strike.
In my favour, I was already a seasoned diarist and reading my single constant hobby from learning the alphabet.
Four years in, I now know how essential those two habits are to the developing writer.
Whether you are aware of it or not, every book read teaches you something about how to be a writer.
One of the most common questions is where you as a writer find your inspiration.
Of course the short answer is everything, everywhere and everyone.
Inspiration comes unexpectedly, with a look or in a phrase or even a familiar photograph you’ve seen every day for years.
One of the things I find fascinating is the interplay of friendships and how jealousy, resentment and rivalry can force people to switch allegiance or break ties.
Given the right force and pressure, relationships can disintegrate. These are the elements I find endlessly interesting.
For the writers reading this, what fascinates you; what prompts you to sit down and put words into a word document?
Answers on a postcard to …… I’m just kidding!!! 😁
Till next time, take care, stay safe and please remember to always be kind 😊
